About the Event
Tiwtor / Tutor: Rosie Green @saorimor
Inkle weaving created narrow warp-faced plain-weave bands full of possibility and invention. Anne Dixon, author of The Weaver’s Inkle Weaving Directory says it is “Simple. No treadles, levers, rollers, ratchets or shafts. Just simple hand movements to raise and lower the warp. And the patterns emerge!”
Over a two-day workshop, we will cover the basic tools and equipment; using heddles, shuttles, shed & pick up sticks; suitable yarns; making heddles; weaving and beating; joining a new weft; spaces and, of course, finishing. Inkle weaving is a great skill for making straps, belts and other narrow woven patterns with text too. The possibilities are amazing.
