Join Katherine to create a delicate 3-D butterfly from silk and organza. Using a technique known as stumpwork. You will use cake wire and fine silk threads to create a delicate butterfly. Katherine will also guide you on how to can create a background for the finished piece. You will be using fine materials and needles so stitching experience is needed.  Katherine has been making butterflies in this way for over twenty years. In 2005, she completed her certificate from the Royal School of Needlework. During her childhood she followed her Dad around fields photographing butterflies, so she has a good knowledge of British butterflies as well as the embroidery technique.   Materials: fabric and threads are supplied as part of the workshop fee. Bring your own: a basic sewing kit.
