This one-day course is for anyone who would like to give free motion stitching a go or for those wishing to push their free motion embroidery further, but just aren’t sure where to start or how to expand their stitch vocabulary. We will explore many different styles of stitching so that you can find some that suit you. For this course you will need the use of a sewing machine that is able to drop the feed dogs (or cover them up) and a darning foot. No previous experience of free motion stitching is needed but participants should be confident using a sewing machine. You will go home from the workshop with a range of samples to use for future reference and free motion stitching. Materials provided: fabrics and wadding. Bring your own: Sewing machine [*on which you can either put down the feed dogs or cover them up]. Sewing machine manual, basic sewing kit (pins, bobbins, etc), fabric scissors, stitch ripper, spare machine needles, a range of threads in a variety of colours either polyester/cotton or cotton thread. Wind some co-ordinating bobbins before you arrive to save time.
